Why Vidferry instead of PasteDownload

One paste, and it’s yours, at the quality and format you want.

Sound at every resolution

Above 360p, YouTube keeps the picture and the sound in separate files, and PasteDownload only joins them for paying VIP members. Vidferry joins them on your computer, so every MP4 plays with sound, up to 4K.

One price, no daily limit

PasteDownload's VIP plans run from $2.99 to $6.99 a month, each with a daily allowance. Vidferry costs $12 once and doesn't count your downloads. Updates come with it.

Playlists without a Pro plan

Whole playlists are a Pro feature on PasteDownload. In Vidferry you paste a playlist or channel link, tick the videos you want, and it works through them.

Your links never reach a server

A download site has to fetch each link on its own machines, so whoever runs it can see what you save. Vidferry fetches the video from your computer. There's no account, and nothing about your downloads gets logged.

PasteDownload didn’t shut down, it started charging

PasteDownload has been around since 2019: a free paste-a-link site, in English and Indonesian, that pulled video from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Vimeo, SoundCloud and a long list of others. Unlike y2mate, nobody took it down. It still loads, and it’s still being updated.

What changed is the price of the thing most people came for. Above 360p, YouTube stores the picture and the sound as two separate files, and a site has to join them before the video plays with audio. PasteDownload now does that join only for VIP members. The cheapest plan, Lite, is $1 for 30 days and leaves YouTube audio out. Basic, at $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year, gives you sound up to 480p and 150 downloads a day. Pro, at $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year, takes sound up to 4K and adds playlists. The free version keeps the ads and the wait.

None of that is a scam. Joining two streams costs server time, and somebody has to pay for it. But if you landed here looking for a replacement, it’s probably because a “free” download came out silent, or the upgrade page showed up first.

What the monthly plan costs you

Pro is the plan that matches what Vidferry does, so it’s the fair comparison: $6.99 a month, or $59.99 a year, for HD YouTube with sound. A year of the cheaper Basic plan still costs more than Vidferry and stops at 480p.

Paying doesn’t change how it works, though. PasteDownload is a website, so its servers fetch every link you paste, and whoever runs it can see what you save. The VIP plans remove the ads, not that.

Doing the same job on your own computer

Vidferry is a small desktop app for Mac and Windows. Paste a link, pick a resolution up to 4K or an audio format, and the MP4 or MP3 saves to a folder you choose, with the sound already in it. It takes playlists and channels, saves a single stretch of a video or splits it by chapter, and can keep the transcript as well. It reaches more than a thousand sites, so the ones you used PasteDownload for, like Instagram, TikTok and Vimeo, all work the same way.

You pay $12 once. One license covers two devices, there’s no daily limit and no account, and nothing renews. Since your computer does the download, no server of ours ever sees your links.

How to download videos without PasteDownload

Three steps, about a minute. No setup, no sign-up.

  1. 1

    Copy the link

Copy the video's URL, the same one you'd have pasted into PasteDownload.

  2. 2

    Pick a resolution or audio

Paste it into Vidferry and choose any resolution the video has, up to 4K, or MP3 or M4A for just the sound.

  3. 3

    Save it

The file lands in the folder you chose, with the sound already merged in. There's no plan to upgrade first.

PasteDownload alternative FAQ

Nothing dramatic. It's still running, and its changelog was updated in October 2026. What changed is the free version. Above 360p, YouTube stores the picture and the sound separately, and PasteDownload now joins them only on its paid VIP plans: Basic, from $2.99 a month, gets you sound up to 480p, and Pro, from $6.99 a month, goes up to 4K.

Google Safe Browsing doesn't flag pastedownload.com. The free version does run ads, though, and other domains use the PasteDownload name without being the same site. If you keep using it, check the address bar. A desktop app avoids the question, because there's no download site in the middle.

Vidferry isn't free. It's $12 once, which works out cheaper than two months of PasteDownload Pro, and it has no ads or daily limit to make up the difference. If free matters most, our best video downloaders roundup covers the honest free options and where each one falls short.

Yes, that's the default. Pick any resolution the video has, up to 4K, and Vidferry merges the picture and sound into one MP4 before it saves. Above 1080p YouTube only offers AV1 or VP9, which some built-in players can't open, so the app marks those resolutions. The YouTube downloader page has the details.

Yes. Switch the format to MP3 or M4A, or to Original to keep the sound exactly as the site sends it. The YouTube to MP3 page walks through it.

Both. It's a desktop app for macOS and Windows, and one $12 license covers two devices, so a Mac and a PC can share it. Nothing renews.
