The voice-note format
Opus is what your voice messages are actually made of. WhatsApp voice notes are .opus files. Telegram and Signal voice messages, Discord call recordings, and most audio a browser records all lean on the same codec, because at speech bitrates nothing else comes close.
None of that helps when you’ve saved a voice note that matters, a message worth keeping, directions someone spelled out, an impromptu interview, and the thing won’t play outside the app it came from.
