Convert MP4 to MP3 without uploading anything
Most MP4 to MP3 converters on the web work the same way: you upload your video to their server, wait in a queue behind everyone else, and download the result, often with a sign-up wall or a watermark between you and your own file.

“MP4 to MP3” is the name people search for, but the tool doesn’t care much about the container. A MOV straight off an iPhone, an MKV from OBS, a WebM saved from the web, an old AVI: if it has an audio track, the track comes out as a clean MP3.
That covers most of the reasons you’d want this. Maybe you recorded a lecture or an interview and want to listen on a walk. A word on quality
An MP3 can hold the quality the source has, and nothing more. If the video’s audio track is a muffled phone recording, a 320 kbps MP3 will be a faithfully muffled phone recording. So pick the bitrate by what the audio is worth: 128 kbps for voices, 192 for nearly everything, 320 when it’s music and storage doesn’t matter.
When the video isn’t on your machine yet
